Micah Grant
Guitar Instructor

My name is Micah and Ive been playing guitar since I was 9 when I decided to take lessons at the local music shop. I was inspired to pick up the guitar because of my exposure to classic rock records played by my parents. From there I grew fascinated with rock n’ roll and the guitar in general and it quickly became my passion!

As a high schooler in Laguna Beach in the late 90s I joined my first band, an alternative rock outfit named The Hiders, and quickly began playing all over Orange County and Los Angeles. I had recorded two albums and played over 100 live shows before even graduating high school. Playing at the massive Doheny Days Festival attended by thousands of people was the highlight playing in this band!

After graduating high school I left the band to move to Hollywood to attend the world famous Musicians Institute (GIT Program). During this time I studied all facets of music including music theory, ear training, live performance, song writing, and improvisation. I spent my days in class, and my nights jamming with all the like minded musicians I was surrounded by.

I completed my schooling in 2002 and in August of that year got an offer to be an instructor at The Music Stand, a private lessons studio in Laguna Niguel, Ca. I moved from Hollywood back to Orange County and have been teaching here ever since. Over the years I’ve taught hundreds of students of all ages and skill levels. To date I’ve taught over 15,000 guitar lessons!

I am currently the guitarist for 80’s comedy tribute band FlashPants, the most booked band out of California. We play hundreds of shows of every year all across the US. We have appeared on ABC’s The Gong Show, Fox Good Day LA, KTLA news, and won “Best Live Band” in the OC Weekly Readers poll 3 times. We have played for KROQ/Jack FM, Fox, Aflac, Volcom, Dr. Sandra Lee aka Dr. Pimple Popper, and many more major company events. My live playing experience exceeds 1000 shows.

My original music has been in films from New Line Cinema, Kia car commercials, and countless television shows ranging from MTV to NBC.
